Trauma Center - Stanford University Medical Center (SUMC)
The Trauma Center at Stanford University Medical Center joined PADACC because of Its interest and commitment to reducing injuries and deaths from motor vehicle crashes. Since many motor vehicle crashes are alcohol-related, the Injury Prevention program is working with coalitions on the issue of underage drinking to reduce unintentional injuries and deaths. The Trauma Center has been an active participant in PADACC since 2005.
The Underage Drinking and Driving' – a parent and teen guide, was developed by the Traffic Safe Communities Network (TSCN) of Santa Clara County with consultation by Ellen Corman, Injury Prevention Coordinator at Stanford’s Trauma service. Get this guide for you and your teen. Also now available from TSCN is a Facilitator’s Guide for organizing panel presentations/discussion groups for parents. To receive this guide call 408-793-2730.
As an active member of the Alcohol and Impaired Driving Workgroup of Traffic Safe Communities Network (TSCN) of Santa Clara County, information is regularly shared with PADACC. The booklet “Underage Drinking and Driving – a Parent and Teen Guide,” developed by TSCN, was made available to the collaborative and distributed to students at Gunn and PALY.
