Youth Community Service - YCS, Clubs and Activities for Youth

Our clubs and activities provide opportunities for youth to participate in service projects, take on leadership roles, and make a difference in their community.

More about Youth Community Service (YCS)

Youth Community Service (YCS) has recently begun to foster a relationship with PADACC. As two organizations dedicated to bettering the lives of teens in Palo Alto, it seemed natural that we may partner in support of one another. Though YCS clubs don't tend to directly address issues of teen drug and alcohol use, our clubs and activities provide opportunities for youth to participate in service projects, take on leadership roles, and make a difference in their community. These factors contribute to a teen's sense of self-efficacy, lessening their likelihood of becoming involved with drugs or other destructive behaviors.

One example of a way in which YCS clubs may directly address drugs, alcohol, bullying & harassment issues can be seen in a project of the YCS club at Terman Middle School, at which bullying has been a focus. The students led an anti-bullying campaign at their school for which they created and distributed pamphlets with information on different types of bullying, ways to prevent it, and places to go for help.
